Too much wind loading on the leeward mountainside meant this years Traverse became an out and back to Star Pass. So many things to mention. Started on 2 or 3 nights of little to no sleep but the energy showed up at the starting line as expected. Broke a pole at mile 8 (Logan’s pole) (who won the whole shebang) (by FORTY FIVE MINUTES) so I owe him big. Doing 25 miles with one pole was rough. I’ve never broken one until this week when I broke TWO. Ethan and I made a pretty good team, I towed for the uphills and he towed for the skating bits, which was REALLY helpful with the one pole situation. Tow skiing is magic! Then I broke my left boot BOA, then I broke my left heel riser (not sure how). The skiing off of Star pass in the middle of the night was pretty good actually! The guy said we got 20 minutes off our time for skiing switch out the gate at the top. Spent most of the day in zone 1 actually but what a good muscular endurance stimulus. Met so many cool people!
